Unaccompanied Children

unaccompanied_childrenYour child is in the best hands, even when traveling alone. We make sure that unaccompanied children aged 5 to 11 travel in the best conditions from the moment they check in until they are received at their destination.

From beginning to end

At the airport: unaccompanied children are in our care from the moment they check in until they are received on arrival by the person that you have designated. When you accompany your child to the airport we kindly ask you to help us fill the travel documents and stay at the airport until takeoff. To ensure your child's safety, he/she will be escorted by a member of our airport ground assistance staff from the check-in counter through security control and the boarding procedure, always under close surveillance.

On arrival: The cabin crew will help your child leave the aircraft and hand him over to an airport employee who will escort him through customs control and bring him to the arrival hall where the person you have designated will be waiting. For safety and security reasons, we kindly request you to make sure that this person carries his/her identity card so that he can be identified as the accompanying person on arrival.

Preparations

During check-in, your child will be given an orange colored pouch bearing the letters UM (meaning "Unaccompanied Minor" which is the universal term used for unaccompanied children). In this pouch he can keep and easily access all the necessary travel documents such as air ticket, identity document, visas for his final destination, travel insurance, medical certificates, etc.

The baggage of unaccompanied children is subject to the usual transport regulations.
